Wind Energy – Advantages

Written on July 12, 2008 – 4:43 pm | by Rick

Windmill for wind powerThere are two types of energy in this world we live in today. These two types are renewable and non-renewable energy. Non-renewable are those which you cannot replace again after used, such as oil and coal. Renewable energy are those which can b replaced and used over and over again, including wind energy.

Well there, you already have one benefit of wind energy. This type of energy is renewable meaning you do not have to continually extract it like oil. Being renewable also means it’s environmentally friendly where unlike fossil fuels it does not cause pollution to the natural environment. Wind blows through the turbine which in turn rotates the generator which produces electricity. No burning is required in the whole process.

The other thing about wind energy is that the potential wind power available in the atmosphere is much greater than the current world energy consumption. It is currently one of the most ample energy resources available in the world today. Recent studies have found that the amount of potential wind energy in the atmosphere is five times the total world energy consumption. This means when developed further wind energy can become the most efficient energy resource of all time.

At Least Someone Has A Plan

Written on July 9, 2008 – 1:14 pm | by Rick

Yesterday to much fanfare, T. Boone Pickens, the multi billionaire oil mogul, unveiled his plan to help the US reduce its’ dependency on foreign energy supplies. I do have to say it is a very comprehensive and aggressive plan. It isn’t the be all to end all but as he says, it’s a ‘bridge’ plan to get us to where we really need to be. We can no longer afford to sit back, do nothing and then complain about it.

Wind Energy- How it is used

Written on July 2, 2008 – 7:33 pm | by Rick

Wind energy is a renewable source of energy. Renewable sources of energy are those which can be reused over and over again unlike fossil fuels such as oil and coal. In other words wind is a sustainable form of energy.

Basically to produce wind power the kinetic energy from wind is converted by a machine known as wind turbines. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy wind produces into mechanical energy or electrical energy, depending on the use. Mechanical energy can only power machinery like pumps and windmills. This is because mechanical energy is still in the form of potential or sometimes kinetic energy.

Cook and Eat Green Foods

Written on June 29, 2008 – 3:09 pm | by Rick

cook and eat green foodsFood is one of the most important things that man cannot live without. Everyone is in need of food and yet in order to make food, we have to use a lot of resources and sometimes, we even pollute the land – and water – with chemicals like fertilizers or pesticides. So in order to help reduce pollution and at the same time sustain our stomachs, we have compiled a list of foods to eat and other related stuff so that eating organic food is not going to sound like an alien concept but more of a good idea.

• If it’s impossible for you to buy all organic foods (organic produce can be pricier than their inorganic counterparts, plus not all supermarkets or grocery store provide a good selection for organic produce), then you might want to consider to just choosing organic over inorganic when buying bell peppers, celery, lettuce, cherries, nectarines, strawberries, lettuce, grapes, apples and pears. The reason for that is because these are some of the foods that when grown inorganically, can be heavily contaminated with pesticides or fertilizers, which can have a negative effect on the body.
