Reasons for Climate Change

Written on April 3, 2011 – 1:36 pm | by Rick

sunsetpollutionThese days, you often hear people ask or even often you ask yourself this question: “Why is it so hot?!”

Well tropical weather aside, it really is getting way hotter than the usual. Scientists, called this phenomenon “global warming.” It refers to the increase of the carbon dioxide content in the earth’s atmosphere, caused by the burning of fossils such as coal, gas and oil, as well as deforestation.

High heat according to scientific studies shows that the temperature of the earth’s surface has been rising steadily for the past 100 years. In 2005, the Inter Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which is an international organization set by the United Nations Environment Program and the Meteorological Organization has published a study revealing that a rise of 0.8 degrees centigrade had already locked in because of the time lag in the way carbon dioxide is absorbed into the atmosphere.

As it turns out, there are no longer enough trees to offset the collective carbon dioxide that comes out from factories, cars, buildings, and homes. Thus excess carbon dioxide ends up clogging up the atmosphere and trapping heat from the sun. This is called the green house effect, which, in turn, it causes climate change that is making the world’s weather haywire.

Pollution has been a major cause of global warming, and now we all have to deal with the rising heat that could destroy the environment. But don’t feel like it’s the end of the world! Find out how you can help Mother Earth cool down.

Here are some eco tips for you:

Lighten up – you can use energy saving lamps.

Mind the watts – use fewer watts, choose light bulbs that have less of this.

Go easy on paper – patronize paper products that are recycled.

Take a hike instead – if you can avoid taking your car, do it.

Eat less red meat – learn to love and eat more vegetables.

Bag it up – stop contributing in making the world a big landfill put in your bag your little waste.

Let the sunshine in – don’t use a light in your home during day time.

Don’t over charge – you can also save up from buying a new battery for your cell phone for all we know over charging is bad for your cell phone’s battery.

Stick out your green thumb – start planting small plants.

Organize your garbage – it’ll be easier for you to distinguish the one that can still be recycled.

“We can all make small acts to help heal the world. It’s not as complicated as you think it is.”  Just try to follow this eco tips for starters.
